Here's a quick look back at what the Redbull has transformed into. What a Journey.
Thanks to all of you whom helped make things happen the way that they did. Ups and downs, forwards and back, I wouldnt change any of it for the world.
Once we picked the car up in Norfolk Virginia we did my first motor swap.
A Redtop SR20DET

Soon after was my first drift event
Drift Day 19.
Made it to the expert track my first day! So exciting!
The bullhorns have been on the car since day one. When I was little I had em on the fourwheeler, dirtbike etc. And one day I found them again and it just kinda stuck..
First paint job. Look at beasty ass Tyler. Dude is a mule.
A little celebrating. "JDM yo!" lol (eyes roll..)
Fresh paint courtesy of Matt Hansen of EP/DC and Diamond Collision.
Thanks guys. I would have never thought that someone would be as nice to me to give a gift like this. I still owe you guys more than I can ever repay..

After a few years, the SR20DET got tired. My old man saw Pro driver Mike Pollard and was like "you need exactly what he has" lol, ok dad....... but the next spring, I took his advice.
R34 Nissan Skyline RB25DET NEO 2.5Liter straight six goodness..

Down for Life. Out in Seattle decided that I needed the chassis code on my arm.
Wish I would have done more research... Its also a popular gang in south Minneapolis/ all over the US. And I don't even speak spanish! Sorenos! DAMN IT lol! I still love it tho..
Getting ready for some wicked steering angle..
Whipped out a case of beer and the plasma cutter and this is what happened....
Our first tub job. This turned out sick. If you are looking for a tub job to accomodate wider steering angle, contact us for pricing. Surprisingly cheap!

Test fitting the new S15 Nissan Silvia front end! sexy time!
After a season of driving with the RB25DET we decided to fully build it from top to bottom with a little help from my sponsor Elite Autosport and a free race port and polish from Elvis of Team Side by Side. Epic win.
Prototyped a carbon fiber intake manifold for specialist (Thanks Dan!)
Lasted a few weeks before I blew it in half doing some late night highway pulls in Wisconsin. So sick. Gotta wait for him to proto some more!
After a long, drawn out summer of trial and error, we figured her out and got out to the track a few times. Let me tell you, it was worth the struggle.
Picked up a new sponsor- Jmuag Production. This guy looks out for me like his brother. Again, I appreciate everyone helping out so much. This has and always will be a group effort.
Thanks to : Elite, Matt Hansen, Tyler Larsin, Jason Goldsworthy, Audi Riza, Chris Skow, My awesome wife Camila, The rest of Empty Pockets Drift Crew, Elvis of SBS, Motors by Gosh, Jmuag Production and the rest of you crazy bastards.
I greatly appreciate EVERYTHING.
2011, HERE WE COME!!

NOS ENERGY/93X DRIFT COMPETITION

So the 2010 season didn't exactly go as planned, but none the less- ended on a pretty good note.

Up until about August I worked on the car day and night. I didn't spend enough time with my family and my young daughter, so needless to say- It took its toll on me.

Once the issues with the head were resolved, we street tuned it on racegas and proceeded to pound the snot out of it. Fun times, but I can tell you that it needs a standalone like Kanye West needs a muzzle.

Started the season off by pulling an all nighter @ Elite the night before the NOS Energy Drink/93X drift competition and movie night.

Practice started in the morning. Got the car running and street tuned by 4PM. Drove to the track and made 2 practice runs after over a year without driving. It felt good even though I could not stretch the center of the track without using the manji technique. (a year without driving and then hopping into a new set up will do that to a guy.. lol)
Qualifying started and I made a decent run. Qualified 6th.

1st round of competition I was paired up with a good guy with a good name.
-Sam Lindsay in his 240sx hatch (SR20DET)
Sam spun out so all I had to do was not spin and move on. So moved on to the great 8.
Check out the vid link below

Guess who I get paired up with? None other than my best friend and teamate- Audi Riza in his S13 coupe KA-T Drift missle.
We were both excited and nervous as all hell.
I was literally sweating like a whore in church.
I went first since Audi qualified higher than me. I layed down a solid run.

Audi was making solid runs with a good amount of smoke all night. But this run I think the hype got to him and he straightened out coming out of the bank. I move on to Top 4.

Next up I'm paired up against none other than "Trapper" Dave in his 1JZ s14 from hell.
After my first run I pulled into the pits, but they turned me around for a one more time!
We went again and my tyres were fucked. I thought for sure that I lost so I drove back to the pits. Then I hear screaming "SAM! SAM! ONE MORE TIME!!!
I quickly swapped tyres courtesy of Max Crocker and got back out there and WON!
Check out the vid link below.

Moved on to the championship against Mr. Consistant himself, Kevin Hilgers in his SR powered kouki S14.
We both had a decent run (at best) and a one more time was called. I straightened out on the opening entry!!! D'OH!!! Kevin won! I got 2nd! It was awesome!

Couldn't have lost to a better guy. He is an awesome driver to say the least.
What a 1st day driving the car!!!! SOOO MUCH FUN!

Thank you for the support peeps! You guys get me so pumped up! I love it!

It's about time...

So this car has been a whole lot of "when it rains, it pours".
Had the motor together and ready to go last week but the headgasket decided not to reseat since I had to reuse it.

I put that whole "cometic headgasket reuse" myth to shame. The gasket crushes. like over 12thousandths. Definitely will not reseat without copper spray.
Anyways, the new one came in, and after an all nighter with Chris Skow. So 10AM rolled in and it was alive. Finally. It's pretty much ready to go. Took her home from Elite (which is about 5 miles), I forgot about all of the looks of amazement, and the embarassing assholes in the camaros and civics constantly reving it at me. I could actually see their penises get smaller everytime they reved it up. lol.
Anyways, it's time to enjoy. Dyno later this week.+

Nails, Ramen and shirts... Random

Yeah, so today has been your average monday.
Leaving a homeowner's today My foot decided it would step on a 2" nail sticking out of the concrete floor. FML. straight to the bone.

On a lighter note, couldnt wait to get back to the office to have a much needed luncheon... even though its nearly time to leave for the day..
But I really am on a MAMA spicy shrimp noodle kick. Accompanied by some Lychee drink.
Gigity.

I was facebooking and noticed quite a few people decided to pick up Jmuag's jiggy/selina x shirt. AWESOME!

Straps..

So fellow member Adam and myself took our permit to carry class last night.
Pretty lax, few rounds at the range followed by class at a local sports bar. Life is good. Next up is weapon choice.
This company out of Minnesota- Magnum Research; kinda tickles my fancy. Some of the best priced/quality guns out there.
Its either one of their guns - baby eagle (Isrealie tactical pistol) or the baby eagle fast action. (which is a replica P99 that Ive had a hard on for since I was 15)
But I also like the Springfield XDM series adn the H&K USP.40. What do you think?
(From top to bottom- Springfield XDM, P99, Baby Eagle, H&K USP)

Midwest Cup Round 1/ DD31

This is coming up fast and im not done yet. If we get the valve issue figured out soon, all I have left will be wiring the maf, making the exhaust (downpipe back), screamer pipe and break in with SAFC, then wire the haltech and tune. Close...

anyways. It's sad that one of the main reasons I want to get to Round 1 so badly is this.... Giordanos in Chicago. Traditional DEEP dish style pizza. And with my shit- that extra sauce. Holy shit, I'm hungry.

How dare you guys post stuff like this on d-town. We should start a "good eats" thread.

One step forward. Two steps back

So, tried getting her ready for 1st start up but wont build oil pressure. checked the compression since it sounded like it had none and that was the case. Pulled the valve covers off and did a leakdown..results -100% leak. After some checking we diagnosed it as intake side only.
Timing is good..hmm...wtf.

Good thing we designed the front end to simply unbolt. If you ever try to put a straight six into a s13 you probably realize that its a bitch to get in with a friend, yet alone by yourself. This makes things 100% easier..

So we did a leakdown with the cams out and it turns out 0% leakdown.
Must be an issue with the shims/cams/valves.

Hope everything turns out decent. This thing is SOO CLOSE to firing up. Stay tuned.
